Normally every resource in the library system has a classification entered onto the record in order to organise the items and make it easy for borrowers to locate it in the library. The classification is a table where the resource classifications and associated keywords are defined.

When viewing a resource record card like in the example below, we can see that the classification 004 represents computers as this is identified by the keyword. Also notice that some such as 001 and 004.02 are missing. The Classifications table is where this information can be updated and the gaps filled in.

Note that the only real benefit of adding a classification is to update the associated keyword. This is because the numeric classification list is built from the existing catalogue and resources.

·Open the Classification table as described here

·A table displaying the currently added classifications will show.

·Add a new classification by clicking New on the right menu.

·Type in the classification and an associated keyword.

·Click Save to add the entry to the table.

Now when editing a resource record the classification and associated keyword shall be displaying in the list.
