A Label Style describes the dimensions used to arrange the labels on a page. In the label style, you define its essential markup, including the width of the labels and margins. Using this information, the system automatically works out how many labels can fit onto a page.
To get you started, MLS provide you with many label styles but should you find one you use is not present, you can create your own. This topic explains the fundamentals of creating your own label style. The steps contained within this topic can also be applied to modifying an existing one.
In this example, we are going to demonstrate how to add the Avery 8371 style into the system (this is not a built-in style).
·Start by accessing the Label Styles list. Click Modules / Labels / Label Styles from the top menu in management.
·The Label Styles box will appear on-screen.
·To create a new label style, click New. To edit an existing label style, select one from the list and click Edit.
·The Label Style editing interface window will appear on-screen.
·Use the Description box to enter a description or amend the existing one.
·Next, begin enter the margins into the appropriate boxes and use the key to help you. If you do not know the dimensions but have a page of labels, you can measure each element using a ruler and then enter them into the box. The measurements for the Avery 8371 style have been entered below.
Make sure you enter the measurements in millimetres!
·Select a Paper Size from the list of populated sizes
·Once finished, click Save to store the new or amended label style and return to the previous Label Styles window.
When the Label Style has been saved, it will now show in the list of Label Styles in both the Label Styles interface and the Label Print interface as shown below.
Once a Label Style has been created, you will need to create a Label Template before you can print barcodes and data onto it. See the section covering Label Templates for information on this.
