The Summary/Notes tab is where the full synopsis of the resource can be viewed from and also where notes about the resource can be entered.

Summary

The summary of a book can be entered into the appropriate box. If a summary has been entered automatically (from Discovery Online) then it can be altered from here too.

If Discovery Online does not automatically populate a summary, it is highly recommended to enter one. The summary displays on the home page when a borrower is browsing the catalogue.

Notes

There are two types of notes that can be entered onto a book record, Public and Private notes. The Public notes are notes about the resource that are visible to the students when browsing the catalogue from the home page. Private notes are ones for the use of the librarian that display on the book record. Private notes can also be configured to display when a resource is issued/returned. To do so, check the appropriate options Show Notes on Issue  / Show Notes on Return.
